David Koepp, best known for Jurassic Park, The Lost World, Mission: Impossible, and Spider-Man to name a few, has been tasked with writing the Bride of Frankenstein reboot for Universal. This relaunch will be a part of the upcoming Universal Monsters Universe the studio will be developing, with The Mummy out first on June 9, 2017.
The original Bride of Frankenstein released in 1935, was written by playwright William J. Hurlbut and Edmund Pearson, and John L. Balderston and was directed by original Frankenstein director James Whale. Universal has sought to revisit this character made famous by Elsa Lanchester for a long time and with their current plans moving forward, it looks likely that we’ll see Bride of Frankenstein sooner rather than later.
Currently, Angelina Jolie has been lightly attached in conversations regarding the Bride of Frankenstein reboot. You could find a little more about that in our Rounding Out The Universal Monsters Universe Cast and stay tuned for a more comprehensive look at the Bride of Frankenstein reboot this week.
