Courtney B. VanceThe Mummy is shaping up to be a movie with quite the star-studded cast with the likes of Jake Johnson, Annabelle Wallis and Marwan Kenzari joining Tom Cruise and Sofia BoutellaThe Hollywood Reporter has now reported that Courtney B. Vance of The People v. O.J. Simpson fame, has joined the cast of the 2017 Universal Studios film.

The movie is set in the modern-day and is centered around Tom Cruise as a Special Forces soldier.  Courtney B. Vance will take on the role as an Army Colonel.  Vance is a great actor and should be a perfect fit for this role.  Filming has begun in London and judging by the set photos, this is going to be big.  The military storyline seems to be the way Alex Kurtzman, Chris Morgan and Sean Daniel are going.  Annabelle Wallis will play an archaeologist in the film.

Courtney B. VanceVance himself made a resurgence as Johnny Cochran in FX’s The People vs. O.J. Simpson and gained critical acclaim for his performance.  He has previously starred on the TV series Law & Order: Criminal Intent and has appeared in such movies as Joyful Noise and Terminator: Genisys.

I cannot wait for this film to be released next year.  Between Alex Kurtzman and the cast being announced so far, it is bound to be a blockbuster film with a mix of the original starring Boris Karloff and Zita Johann and the 1999 version starring Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weiss.  Courtney is an excellent addition and it will be great to see him in such a role working with Tom Cruise and Jake Johnson.  It is only a matter of time before another big name is mentioned and Universal Monsters Universe will be right there to report it!  Stay tuned!

He is repped by Gersh, Lighthouse Entertainment and Fox Rothschild.
