After a lengthy wait, principal photography is under way on The Mummy and week two of production is already near completion. Following news regarding locations being scouted, the casting announcements of Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, and Marwan Kenzari, and production beginning in the U.K., it seems like so much has already happened. In trying to keep as close to news regarding the production of Alex Kurtzman’s The Mummy, Universal Monsters Universe has a week two of The Mummy recap for you that we hope you enjoy as much as our week one recap.
News regarding The Mummy as its gone into week two of principal photography has been relatively quiet as filming has moved off the streets and into the studios. Early this past week we reported on The Mummy shooting at Shepperton Studios. Interestingly, Stephen Sommers’ 1999 The Mummy also used the famous UK studios to film the underground tunnels of The City of the Dead.
We also uncovered a first look at the temporary logo being used for The Mummy on the UMCU reddit page submitted by the moderator who is just as excited for Tom Cruise’s upcoming film as much as we are. If you’re active on reddit, you may want to check out /r/UMCU, subscribe, and join in on the conversation.
In possibly the biggest news of the week was the casting announcement made yesterday. Reported first by Deadline, Courtney B. Vance has joined the cast of The Mummy and will be playing the role of an Army Colonel. The report also revealed that Tom Cruise will be playing a Special Forces soldier and possibly a former one.
