Visit The Mummy

Week Three of Filming ‘The Mummy.’

2017’s The Mummy is nearing the end of its third week of principal photography and while still much of the plot is figuratively under wraps, Universal Monsters Universe does have your weekly recap on the current production.

Bella Ava Georgiou and her mother, makeup and hair designer Elizabeth “Lizzie” Yianni Georgiou, are both currently working on the Alex Kurtzman directed The Mummy.  At the start of week three, Bella tweeted the following in regards to the production:

The Georgiou’s  are two of the very best working in the industry today and to learn more about Elizabeth, you could check out UMU Joe’s profile on her in his “Making Up The Monsters”  series.  Along with being a makeup artist, Bella Ava Georgiou is also an actress too!  She could be seen in this year’s Their Finest Hour and a Half as “Pearl”, alongside Sam Claflin and Gemma Arterton.  The film, considered a romantic comedy based off of the novel of the same name by Lissa Evans, does not yet have a release.  In a report by Deadline, Ali Jafaar had reported on May 13th of last year that Lionsgate had taken up U.K. rights for the film.  Their Finest Hour and a Half is described as “a screwball comedy battle of the sexes that follows the misadventures of a British movie crew trying to make a patriotic film to boost morale during the Blitz.”  Georgiou is also listed as the hair and makeup artist on that film as well.

Hair and make up artist Danielle Harding also tweeted in regards to The Mummy and you could see that below:

Outside of the Make Up and Hair Team working on The Mummy, we also were uniquely treated to our first behind the scenes look at fight training involving the great Sofia Boutella, along with longtime Tom Cruise collaborators Wade Eastwood and Lucy Cork.  While the video doesn’t reveal anything too specific, it does provide a seemingly obvious confirmation that the film will showcase Sofia Boutella’s Mummy in fight scenes.  This was to be expected after her turn as Gazelle in Kingsman and as Jaylah in this summer’s Star Trek Beyond.

On top of the obvious facts we have regarding Alex Kurtzman’s The Mummy, we did learn our first possible rumor regarding the film and casting.  English actor Dylan Smith was apparently cast in the film and while that’s been found on IMDb, we do not have official word that he’s a part of the cast.  Sometimes IMDb could be wrong and sometimes they’re right so until this is confirmed we’re treating this as a rumor.  But, in our opinion, Dylan Smith would be a fine addition to the already impressive cast.

Also, we did get another look at cast member Annabelle Wallis, who was originally reported as playing an archaeologist in the film, according to Justin Kroll at Variety.

Wallis is best known for her work in Steven Knight’s “Peaky Blinders.” She also starred in the 2014 horror pic “Annabelle” and the comedy “Brothers Grimsby.” Wallis will play Maid Maggie in Guy Ritchie’s upcoming King Arthur movie — set for release in 2017. She also recently wrapped Zack Whedon’s thriller “Come and Find Me” opposite Aaron Paul.

She is repped by UTA, United Agents and Untitled Entertainment.

The Mummy is directed by Alex Kurtzman, from a script by Jon Spaihts.  The film stars Tom Cruise, Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, Marwan Kenzari, Courtney B. Vance, and Sofia Boutella as the iconic Universal Monster.  The film is scheduled to release June 9, 2017.

As always, stay tuned for more information and be sure to comment if you’re just as excited as we are for The Mummy.
