Welcome to Dark Universe

Week Four on ‘The Mummy.’

While it may have seemed like a quiet week regarding news on The Mummy (it’s currently filming in the U.K.), it sure was a busy one for the cast and crew.  Universal Monsters Universe did learn some new things about the film that we’re sure you’ll enjoy.  If you’ve been following our weekly coverage on The Mummy there may be a few things that you’ve already seen.  Either way, here’s our Week Four on ‘The Mummy.’

The Mummy production schedule has been quite an intense “roller coaster” ride with filming nearly cruising like thunder (Days of Thunder reference) since principal photography started this month.  Going into week four, makeup artist Bella Georgiou kicked things off with a “#letsgo” on Saturday, April 23rd.

We also have a new BTS look into The Mummy, production wise, courtesy of David Cheesman.  Mr. Cheesman is the propmaster working on the film and his past credits include Sofia Boutella’s Kingsman and this year’s The Huntsman.

The make up department on The Mummy had some fun with Sofia Boutella this week as they posted a few great shots with Mezco Toyz’ Boris Karloff Mummy figure from a few years ago.

Hair and make-up artist Lizzie Georgiou posted the following:

Sofia Boutella previously posted a similar image which you can see in this past week’s “Latest News on ‘The Mummy.’

In addition to the BTS posts regarding The Mummy, Annabelle Wallis has had her first day off since shooting began on The Mummy and it seems that the cast and crew may be off this weekend due to the four full weeks of shooting.  If news regarding Alex Kurtzman’s upcoming relaunch of the Universal Monster movies is quiet, it’s because of scheduling.

You could see Annabelle Wallis’ post below from our Instagram account – @universalmonstersuniverse

Universal Monsters Universe has learned a little more about the rumor regarding Huma Qureshi‘s involvement with The Mummy.  It was previously reported that she’d be starring in the film, but the reports contradicted already known facts.  Qureshi was announced as having auditioned for the role of the female lead, yet we know that those roles have gone to Annabelle Wallis and Sofia Boutella.  It seems as if Huma Qureshi auditioned for a role in the film, but it does not look like she’ll be in it.  Of course, she may be filling in for another as of yet announced role, but until this is confirmed, we feel pretty safe at debunking this one ourselves.

As always, stay tuned for more information and be sure to comment if you’re just as excited as we are for The Mummy.

The Mummy is directed by Alex Kurtzman, from a script by Jon Spaihts.  The film stars Tom Cruise, Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, Marwan Kenzari, Courtney B. Vance, and Sofia Boutella as the iconic Universal Monster.  The film is scheduled to release June 9, 2017.

Also, has director Colin Trevorrow of Jurassic World visited the set of The Mummy?  Maybe?  Interestingly, he directed Jake Johnson in JW and Johnson now appears in Alex Kurtzman’s film in a role specifically written for him.
