Recap: Week Nine of Filming ‘The Mummy.’

UMU recaps week nine of principal photography on “The Mummy” as it wraps its ninth week of filming.

It’s exciting to know that this time next year the hype and marketing for Universal’s upcoming The Mummy will be at an all time high.  The Alex Kurtzman directed picture, set to “usher in a new age of gods and monsters“, began filming back in April and looks to conclude principal photography this coming August when it heads to Namibia.  As of late, filming news has been pretty quiet, especially the last few weeks.

However, this past week saw The Mummy‘s very own Bella Ava Georgiou (hair and make up artist) tweet the following:

With San Diego Comic Con taking place next month, it’s likely that fans can expect to see some of the first promotional materials for The Mummy over Thursday, July 21 through Sunday, July 24th.  Also, June 9th is fast approaching and this day marks us being exactly 1 year out from the start of Universal’s “Monster Universe.”

As always, stay tuned to Universal Monsters Universe for news regarding the classic and currently in development relaunch of the Universal Monsters movies.  Be sure to comment below what you’re most looking forward to seeing in 2017’s The Mummy.

“Tom Cruise headlines a spectacular, all-new cinematic version of the legend that has fascinated cultures all over the world since the dawn of civilization: The Mummy.

Thought safely entombed in a crypt deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient queen (Sofia Boutella of Kingsman: The Secret Service and Star Trek Beyond) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.

From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.”

The Mummy is directed by Alex Kurtzman, from a script by Jon Spaihts.  The film stars Tom Cruise, Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, Marwan Kenzari, Courtney B. Vance, and Sofia Boutella as the iconic creature now revealed to be an ancient queen.  The film opens June 9, 2017.
