Ebb Tide

Ahead of this week’s episode of ‘Penny Dreadful’, UMU takes a quick peak at episode 7 – ‘Ebb Tide.’

“Ebb Tide” – airs 6/12/2015

Directed by Paco Cabezas

Kaetenay has a vision of impending doom; Frankenstein and Jekyll get help from an unlikely foe; the Creature finally gains courage; Vanessa learns an awful truth.

With only two episodes left of Penny Dreadful, the third season of SHOWTIME’s hit series has been one filled with an exploration of the great literary character and Universal Monster – Dracula!  As we near closer to the season three finale, episode 7 “Ebb Tide” looks as if we’ll finally see Ethan and Vanessa reunite after being separated at the end of season two.  This third season of Penny Dreadful has wonderfully isolated the cast, while expanding the reach of the monsters across the world.

If you don’t have SHOWTIME, Penny Dreadful is definitely a show worth watching, especially if you’re a fan of the Universal Monsters like Dracula, Frankenstein, and The Wolf Man.  The show has blended these characters well together in as cohesive a way you’d want from a shared universe.  This season has also introduced Dr. Jekyll (Shazad Latif) while also finally giving us Dracula after a three year wait.

“Ebb Tide” looks as if it will be another episode that furthers all these themes in an engaging way as we learn more about the origin and nature of Dracula.  The stories of him not being able to walk during the day, nor see his reflection, along with the usual Dracula tropes have seemingly been done away with as Penny Dreadful‘s version of the character has made him, quite literally, devilish.  It was revealed that Dracula is Lucifer’s brother.

Penny Dreadful airs Sunday nights at 10 PM ET on SHOWTIME.  Check your local listings.
