Recap: Week Eleven of Filming ‘The Mummy’

Principal photography on “The Mummy” wraps week eleven of filming.

As we originally reported, production on Alex Kurtzman’s The Mummy will be moving to Namibia for a few weeks to wrap production.  It looks like principal photography will take place in Swakopmund from July 20th to August 15th.  But while work is still being done in England, this week we learned that cast and crew members have begun getting their inoculation shots before heading to the coastal city.

The Mummy‘s very own Danielle Harding tweeted the following earlier this week:

With travel vaccinations normally happening between three to six weeks before travel, it is apparent that production on The Mummy is staying right on schedule.

Since it’s been a little while, here’s a tease of one of the sets from The Mummy at Shepperton Studios.

That definitely is keeping in line with the plot synopsis that included “hidden labyrinths.”

That’s about it for our week eleven recap on The Mummy.  Stay tuned for more on the Sofia Boutella and Tom Cruise film, set to relaunch the “Monsters Universe” for Universal.

“Tom Cruise headlines a spectacular, all-new cinematic version of the legend that has fascinated cultures all over the world since the dawn of civilization: The Mummy.

Thought safely entombed in a crypt deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient queen (Sofia Boutella of Kingsman: The Secret Service and Star Trek Beyond) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.

From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.”

The Mummy is directed by Alex Kurtzman, from a script by Jon Spaihts.  The film stars Tom Cruise, Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, Marwan Kenzari, Courtney B. Vance, Russell Crowe and Sofia Boutella as the iconic creature now revealed to be an ancient queen.  The film opens June 9, 2017.
