Syfy’s “Van Helsing” Gets Premiere Date!

Van Helsing

A few days ago, Syfy released its first teaser image of Kelly Overton as Vanessa Helsing. As we approach San Diego Comic Con, the network has now released the first promotional image for Van Helsing.

It’s been a big week for fans of Van Helsing, especially the last few days.  Now, courtesy of Blastr, we have our first promotional image for Syfy’s Van Helsing series.

Syfy’s Van Helsing is set to premiere on September 23 and air Friday nights for its first 13-episode season.  Vanessa Helsing, the daughter of vampire hunter Abraham Van Helsing, is resurrected in a post-apocalyptic world ruled by vampires.  She leads a human resistance against the vampires and even has the power to reverse their condition.  The show is written by Neil LaBute, and Continuum creator Simon Barry will share showrunning duties with LaBute.

“I am extremely excited to be working with Syfy and Nomadic Pictures to create a unique, character-driven action series that will move the traditional vampire tropes into bold and unexpected new territories.  This is a wonderful chance for us to forge great stories and unforgettable characters and throw them into a world where the stakes – both dramatic and personal – are tremendously high.” – Neil LaBute

This image is one of the best cable television promo images I have ever seen.  It captures the post-apocalyptic hell fire and brimstone overtones very well.  Kelly Overton look badass as Vanessa Helsing.  She’s ready to take out some bloodsuckers and look good doing it.

Make sure to stay tuned to Universal Monsters Universe for more on the upcoming series, especially as we approach San Diego Comic Con.
