Principal photography on “The Mummy” wraps week thirteen of filming.
Happy July 1st from all of us at Universal Monsters Universe. This is an exciting month for us as not only “The Mummy” is nearing completion with filming coming to an end next month, but we’re actually approaching our five month anniversary. To celebrate, we’ll be holding our second contest/giveaway so be sure to stay tuned for more on that.
There’s not all that much to report on The Mummy for week thirteen as production has been pretty much under wraps. A little Mummy humor for ya! We could report on two small aspects regarding the Alex Kurtzman directed and produced movie which we hope you find interesting.
Bella Ava Georgiou, one of the hair and makeup artists on the film, tweeted the following last weekend:

Filming looks to be moving steadily along with no problems. Principal photography is on schedule with everything looking to conclude after a shoot in Namibia taking place near the end of this month and wrapping in August. It makes sense that the cast and crew have been working weekends to ensure the film stays on target for its June 9, 2017 release date.
In other news, it’s Tom Cruise’s 53rd birthday this Sunday, June 3rd. The headlining star of The Mummy is still currently in England where the majority of filming is taking place. It looks as if filming in Morocco might just be second unit work with no major cast members on location. If we learn otherwise, we’ll report on that here.
That’s about it for this week. As always, stay tuned to Universal Monsters Universe for the latest on 2017’s The Mummy.
“Tom Cruise headlines a spectacular, all-new cinematic version of the legend that has fascinated cultures all over the world since the dawn of civilization: The Mummy.
Thought safely entombed in a crypt deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient queen (Sofia Boutella of Kingsman: The Secret Service and Star Trek Beyond) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.
From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.”
The Mummy is directed by Alex Kurtzman, from a script by Jon Spaihts. The film stars Tom Cruise, Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, Marwan Kenzari, Courtney B. Vance, Russell Crowe and Sofia Boutella as the iconic creature now revealed to be an ancient queen. The film opens June 9, 2017.
