The Mummy: Tom Cruise and Annabelle Wallis Film In London!

Tom Cruise

Last week, the first images of Sofia Boutella as the Mummy were released, giving us a glimpse of what she will look like as the title monster.  This week, we have new images, courtesy of superherohype.com, of Tom Cruise and Annabelle Wallis filming a scene on the final day of shooting.

UPDATE: 7/18/2016 – The reports of filming on Sunday being the last day of shooting on The Mummy are untrue.  According to a trusted source, filming continues.

The last time we saw Tom Cruise and Annabelle Wallis together on set was when we brought you images of the two filming a night scene in London.  In these new images, we see Tom and Annabelle escaping chaos in the streets of London.  It happens to be the same location where Sofia Boutella filmed her scene in full Mummy costume.  Could this be the big fight scene?  It certainly looks like it is!  However, we will have to wait until June 9, 2017 to find out who wins.

It was certainly a scene fit for the last day of shooting.  There were even some other celebrity sightings, like actor/comedian Chris Rock and Arrow’s Megalyn Echikunwoke.  They seem just as excited about Tom and the movie as we do!

It’s amazing how time flies.  It feels like we were just reporting on the movie’s first shoot in London and here we are talking the final shoot.  While Morocco and Namibia were mentioned as shooting locations, there has yet to be official word yet on what they will be used as locations for, if they are still used at all.  The Mummy is shaping up to be quite a movie.  We here at Universal Monsters Universe are just as excited as you are to see the final product as well as any promo material that will come along with it.  Stay tuned to UMU for all of your Mummy and Universal Monsters news!

“Tom Cruise headlines a spectacular, all-new cinematic version of the legend that has fascinated cultures all over the world since the dawn of civilization: The Mummy.

Thought safely entombed in a crypt deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient queen (Sofia Boutella of Kingsman: The Secret Service and Star Trek Beyond) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.

From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.”

The Mummy is directed by Alex Kurtzman, from a script by Jon Spaihts.  The film stars Tom Cruise, Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, Marwan Kenzari, Courtney B. Vance, Russell Crowe and Sofia Boutella as the iconic creature now revealed to be an ancient queen.  The film opens June 9, 2017.
