Five Things We’d Like To See in Marvel’s “Monsters Unleashed”!

Marvel Comics

Monsters Unleashed, a new comic series by Marvel, releases January 2017. But what could we expect from it and what would we like to see?

monsters-unleashed-197928This month saw a tease of an upcoming Marvel comic entitled “Monsters Unleashed” during Diamond Comic Distributors’ annual comic book retailers summit, held in Baltimore, Md.  While details about this new title have been kept as tightly secured as the Mummy’s tomb, all that has been revealed is the creative team and launch date.  Starting in January 2017, Marvel’s “Monsters Unleashed” will be available at your local comic shop and feature the talents of writer Cullen Bunn and artists Steve McNiven, Leinil Yu, Adam Kubert, Greg Land, and Salvador Larroca.

Given that this series doesn’t end up having loose affiliations with Warner Bros. 2004 film, Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, as The Outhousers reported, here’s what we’d like to see in Marvel’s latest comic series.  After all, let’s not forget Marvel’s had a fun tradition with stories inspired by the classic monsters, along with the publication of the original “Monsters Unleashed,” an 11-issue black and white horror anthology published by Curtis Magazines, an imprint of Marvel Comics, from 1973 through 1975.

There’s no denying the influence the Universal Monsters have had on Marvel during the late 60’s and 70’s.  With 2017 looking to bring the classic monsters back in a big way with Kong: Skull Island out in March and The Mummy in June, “Monsters Unleashed” may be just the new comic series to start off 2017 with.  But since most of this is all conjecture at this point, what would you like to see? Make sure to let us know in the comments below.
