After a long wait and an early preview of the pilot back during the summer, Syfy’s highly anticipated Van Helsing finally premieres tonight with a 2 hour episode.
Van Helsing, starring Kelly Overton of True Blood, is a series we’ve been speaking of for quite some time. This past summer we saw an early preview of the pilot episode entitled “Help Me” and thought the new show was well worth the wait. Albeit slow at times, the pilot concluded with an intriguing look at the world in the year 2019 and a radically different take on Van Helsing. Tonight at 10 PM EST, “she bites back!”
Ahead of the official premiere, Syfy released two new synopsis’ of the first two episodes, along with an extended look at season one. If you’re looking forward to Van Helsing or are just not quite sure what to expect, check out the video. Offering insight into the more The Walking Dead portrait of vampires as opposed to the Tod Browning take, Neil LaBute’s series looks to be yet another interesting entry in the legend of vampires on screen.
“Van Helsing” Episode 1.01 – “Help Me”
Three years after “The Rising” of the vampires began, Vanessa (Kelly Overton) is resurrected in a world now ruled by vampires. Holed up in an abandoned hospital with other human survivors, she fends off both vampires and treacherous humans and discovers special powers even she didn’t know she had.
“Van Helsing” Episode 1.02 – “Seen You”
In flashback, we see events leading up to “The Rising.” Vanessa is attacked and left for dead by an intruder. When Doc (Rukiya Bernard) discovers anomalies in Vanessa’s bloodwork, Axel (Jonathan Scarfe) and the Marines come to retrieve the body, only to become marooned in the hospital when The Rising erupts outside the building.
