From Dusk Till Dawn is only five episodes into season three and it is already as bloody and entertaining as we’re hoping it would be. In last week’s episode, “Fanglorious,” Scott (Brandon Soo Hoo) and Kate/Amaru (Madison Davenport) have a reunion of sorts while Seth (D.J. Cotrona), Richie (Zane Holtz) and Ranger Freddie Gonzalez (Jesse Garcia) must defeat the ancient Jaguar Warriors who are summoned by Amaru. The episode concludes when Richie discovers the doctor who he thought could help him is the daughter of Ranger Earl McGraw, the man he killed in the convenience store robbery.

Shady Glen seems to be like any other town in suburban America. It has quaint houses, white picket fences and everyone knows each other. It is also the epicenter of a xibalban bug invasion reminiscent of a biblical plague. The bugs take down power lines and taint drinking water. Whoever drinks the water is turned into a cannibal. The featured case was Reuben (Christian Gallegos) who witnesses his mother try to eat his father. I can only imagine what that therapy session will be like. In this week’s episode of From Dusk Till Dawn, it’s all hands on deck as the Geckos, Scott, Sex Machine (Jake Busey), Ranger Gonzalez, Ximena (Emily Rios) and even Burt (Tom Savini) must come together to destroy the swarm and whatever or whoever is behind it. In the middle of the chaos, McGraw’s daughter Dakota (Nicky Whelan) is set on revenge against Richie after shooting him the first time did not work.
Amaru and Brasa (Maurice Compte) came to play this time around unleashing bugs and a creature that looked like a cross between a xenophobe from Aliens and the kraken. Madison Davenport is such a talented young actress who is becoming a favorite as Amaru. She is so convincing in the role and has done an extraordinary job of flipping from church girl Kate to pure, remorseless evil without a hitch. Who was rooting for Team Sex Machine when Tom Savini and Jake Busey joined forces with Brandon Soo Hoo to defeat the monster in the water plant? They made a great pair starting at the beginning of the episode and as always, Tom knows how to make an entrance at exactly the right time. The ending scene was done so well with everyone going from fighting each other to teaming up to fight Amaru and Brasa.
It’s only the beginning of season three and I’m already running out of words to say about this show. Robert Rodriguez is a film legend and took his creation above and beyond. The cast is talented and go so well together. D.J. Cotrona and Zane Holtz are outstanding as the Geckos. They took the roles from the iconic George Clooney and Quentin Tarantino and put their own spin on them. Eiza Gonzalez is perfect as Santanico and picked up where Salma Hayek left off. Jesse Garcia is superb as Ranger Gonzalez and made this new character his own. If you haven’t watched this show yet, I suggest you do as soon as possible because it is a can’t miss.
