New York Comic Con is in full swing with day one currently underway. While the four day event focuses primarily on comic books and super heroes, the general pop-culture event does include aspects of horror, with the Universal Monsters included for good measure.  Thanks to the good people at ReedPop, we’ve been given the opportunity to cover the event and it’s already proving to be another successful year for the event organizers led by Lance Fensterman.

New York Comic Con could be even more overwhelming than a horse carriage trip to Borgo Pass (Dracula ’31, anyone?) It’s easy to quickly become overwhelmed with the sheer enormity of opportunities fans have to enjoy panels, exhibitor booths, and special events. However, if you go prepared as Rick O’Connell would, you’ll probably have a very enjoyable time.

While we’ve walked the floors, we’ve already found quite a few Universal Monsters present with the likes of Dracula, Frankenstein’s Monster, and The Mummy making their appearances. We’ve also seen the werewolf from The Howling and collectibles from The Nightmare Before Christmas and Beetlejuice.

For those attending New York Comic Con, we have some swag to give out.  Follow us on Instagram to keep up to date as to our whereabouts and if you find us, maybe we’ll have something spooky for you – like a Funko ReAction Universal Monsters action figure.

Be sure to follow our coverage of New York Comic Con over the next few days as we have several exciting interviews lined up, along with as much monsters goodness that one could handle.  There’s a few new horror series set to premiere that you’ll probably enjoy if you like the classics.  If you’re interested in programs like IFC’s Stan Against Evil and/or Hulu’s Freakish, check back this weekend for news regarding those two series.

New York Comic Con takes place Thursday, October 6th to Sunday, October 9th at the Jacob Javits Center in NY.
