New York Comic Con continues for us at Universal Monsters with more interviews, more horror, and more monsters!
Yesterday was the first day of New York Comic Con, held in the Jacob Javits Center in Manhattan and Universal Monsters Universe was there! It was a fun-filled day as we walked the convention floor in search of all things monsters. We even got to sit down with some of the cast and crew from IFC’s Stan Against Evil starring Scrubs alumnus John C. McGinley, along with actor and fellow Universal Monsters fan Dana Gould (stay tuned for more on the show, along with our interviews). While you are probably saying, “Wow! They covered a lot! How will they follow that up?!” Well, we went back for more.
On the second day of Comic Con there were more people and more opportunities to find anything monster. New York Comic Con is traditionally comic books, movies and super heroes but classic monsters did manage to find their way in amongst the droves of Men of Steel and Caped Crusaders. While many comic book and publishing companies like our friends at Zenescope put the comic in New York Comic Con, the heart of the show can be found on display on the tables of the countless vendors that fill the floor of the Javits. These vendors provide a great way to find some great treasures from your childhood or just great treasures in general for a more-than-decent price. You can find anything from action figures to lunch boxes to posters just by cruising the aisles of the Con. There was plenty of classic monsters merchandise for sale such as the Diamond Select line of figures, Mezco’s 1:12 scale Frankenstein and even stuffed Mummies, Draculas and Frankensteins (which make great Halloween gifts for the little ones). If you loved the classic movies, there were plenty of vendors with replica Universal Monsters movie posters. There is something for everyone if you look hard and close enough.
After we had the opportunity to see some great sales and trinkets, we had the opportunity to sit down with the cast and crew of Adult Swim’s Your Pretty Face Is Going To Hell. The show is the creation of Casper Kelly and Dave Willis and stars Dana Snyder (Aqua Teen Hunger Force) and Matt Servitto (One Life To Live, Law & Order). The best way to describe the show is if the likes of The Office or Office Space was set in Hell, but we’ll have more on that later.
