Welcome to Dark Universe

UMU Co-Sponsors Universal Monsters Screenings at Nitehawk!

Universal Monsters Universe and Royal Collectibles have once again collaborated; this time to present three days of Universal Monsters at popular Brooklyn, NY theater Nitehawk Cinema.

Over the past eight months, we’ve found a wonderful partner in Queens, NY comic shop Royal Collectibles. Not only have we partnered with them on two really fun contest/giveaways (Universal Monsters little big-heads and Creature from the Black Lagooon prize pack), but we’re collaborating yet again and right in time for Halloween. If you’re looking for something fun to do during this Halloween, and you love the classic Universal Monsters films, how about you come to Nitehawk Cinema to watch Tod Browning’s Dracula and Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein! And that’s not it because if you go see these two classic Universal pictures, you may be one of the lucky attendees to win some really exciting swag we have for select audience members.

We couldn’t be more excited for these two screenings of two classic Universal Monsters films.  It’s been a fun year for us and what better way to celebrate these two films and the Universal Monsters than by co-sponsoring screenings of them. We’ve selected some really fun prizes and swag that we know will make Dracula and Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein all the more spookier and fun. Tickets are still on sale, but are vanishing faster than Dr. Jack Griffin in The Invisible Man.

Team UMU will be in attendance and we’d love to see you all there in our first official sponsored event. If you happen to spot us, make sure to say hi. It’s sure to be a fun event for us “children of the night!”

Booze: An bloody inspired cocktail is in the works

Bram Stoker’s seminal horror novel Dracula has seen countless adaptations on the big screen yet none are quite as memorable as Tod Browning’s eternal classic, Dracula. Although a loose adaptation of the book, the film has shaped our idea of who or what a vampire and this is no doubt due to Bela Lugosi’s brilliant turn as Count Dracula. In it he hypnotizes a British soldier named Renfield into being his mindless slave as he travels to London and takes up in an old castle. As vampires do, he starts sucking the blood of young women until one catches his fancy. Unfortunately for her, she’s the daughter of the prominent doctor and vampire hunter Van Helsing!

Two hapless freight handlers find themselves encountering Dracula, the Frankenstein Monster and the Wolf Man in ABBOTT & COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN!

Featuring frighteningly fun giveaways courtesy of Universal Monsters Universe and Royal Collectibles!

The classics never go out of style! In the first of Bud Abbott and Lou Costello’s horror vehicles for Universal Pictures, the inimitable comic duo star as railway baggage handlers in northern Florida. When a pair of crates belonging to a house of horrors museum are mishandled by Wilbur (Lou Costello), the museum’s director, Mr. MacDougal (Frank Ferguson), demands that they deliver them personally so that they can be inspected for insurance purposes, but Lou’s friend Chick (Bud Abbott) has grave suspicions.

Be sure to get your tickets for Nitehawk’s screenings of Dracula and Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein playing on Wednesday, October 26th and Saturday, October 29th & Sunday, October 30th.

Universal Monsters Universe would like to thank Royal Collectibles for their support, generosity, and helping us ensure these two screenings are even more fun with prizes.  We’d also like to thank Florencia Varela and Nitehawk Cinema for collaborating and allowing us to co-sponsor their screenings of Dracula and Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein.
