Welcome to Dark Universe

Universal Monsters Universe Begins “March of Mummies” for 2017!

march of mummies

It’s March 1st and you know what that means for us at UMU – it’s March of Mummies!

march of mummiesLast year, one month into our launch, we hosted “March of Mummies“: a month devoted to Universal’s classic Mummy films – from the 1932 original to the upcoming June reboot. During March 2016, we had the good fortune to announce the casting of Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, and Marwan Kenzari in Alex Kurtzman’s The Mummy, along with taking a look back on the 1999 reboot, its 2001 sequel, and many other aspects of Universal’s Mummy lore. We had a great time celebrating Universal’s wrapped in bandages monster, so much so that we’re doing it again this year.

It’s an exciting month as we’re now only 99 days away from The Mummy being awakened in June. For UMU’s second “March of Mummies” we’re going to be taking a closer look at the upcoming Universal Monsters film, starring Tom Cruise and Sofia Boutella as Princess Ahmanet/The Mummy. We also can’t forget the classic 1932 picture, directed by Karl Freund, and its sequels.

Outside of our planned film coverage, we also have a great new contest we’ll be running across UMU platforms. Last month we were at New York Toy Fair and we had the always rad Jean St. Jean sign one of his Diamond Select Toys’ The Mummy action figures. We’ll be giving that away sometime this month so stay tuned for that, as well.

While the whole month won’t be filled with just the gauze wrapped monster of the Universal Monsters library, we will be looking towards this character for the inspiration of content we’re sure you’ll enjoy.  If you’re excited, curious, or just a monster head, then be sure to stick around.

Also, we welcome all comments, recommendations, and insights.  And, if you happen to have the Book of the Dead, but can’t figure out how to open it, don’t worry – we have the key!

Welcome to UMU’s March of Mummies!
