As UMU continues its “March of Mummies” 2017 celebration, we look to this week as a significant one in not only the history of Universal’s classic monsters, but also its upcoming, redeveloped monsters films. This time last year saw the casting announcements of Annabelle Wallis and Jake Johnson in Alex Kurtzman’s The Mummy and for this year UMU will be taking a look at the who they are within the upcoming Universal Monsters film. This week also marks the 75th anniversary of The Mummy’s Tomb, which featured Lon Chaney, Jr. as the bandaged monster, Kharis.

It’s an exciting week, especially if you’re a fan of Universal’s wrapped up monster and if you’re also as excited for The Mummy, starring Sofia Boutella and Tom Cruise, as much as we are. Not only will UMU be presenting The Mummy 101 on Annabelle Wallis’ Jenny Halsey and Jake Johnson’s Sgt. Vail, but we’ll also be hosting a Mummy themed contest/giveaway later on in the week which you will not want to miss. So rise from your coffins and sarcophagus’ and stay tuned for our “March of Mummies” themed giveaway.

Last, but not least, UMU also has some new The Mummy information. Stay tuned for that, as well. With all this said, be sure to follow UMU on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram and join in on the #March ofMummies fun.

As always, stay tuned to Universal Monsters Universe for the latest on The Mummy.

Tom Cruise headlines a spectacular, all-new cinematic version of the legend that has fascinated cultures all over the world since the dawn of civilization: The Mummy.

Thought safely entombed in a tomb deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient princess (Sofia Boutella of Kingsman: The Secret Service and Star Trek Beyond) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.

From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.

The Mummy is directed by Alex Kurtzman, from a script by Jon Spaihts, Dylan Kussman, and Christopher McQuarrie. The film stars Tom Cruise, Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, Marwan Kenzari, Courtney B. Vance, Russell Crowe and Sofia Boutella. The film opens June 9, 2017.
