UMU takes a closer look at Funko’s Ahmanet POP from the upcoming Universal Monsters film, “The Mummy.”
This week Universal Monsters Universe was fortunate to get a case of The Mummy Funko POPs. While we will be giving away the POP vinyl figures of The Mummy, Ahmanet, and Nick Morton, along with sending a few out to some of the beautiful people that designed the beautiful monsters of the Alex Kurtzman film, we decided to take a closer look at Funko’s latest POP! Movies line of vinyl figures. Today, we’ll be taking a closer look at The Mummy before she becomes The Mummy – Princess Ahmanet!
Funko’s POP! vinyl figure of Ahmanet stands 3 3/4 inches tall and packaged in a window display box just like every other Funko POP vinyl product. Keeping in tradition with the non-Marvel line of POPs, Ahmanet is a full vinyl figure. She does not come as a bobble-head in the way that all of Funko’s Marvel and Star Wars products are manufactured.
While we love the Funko POP vinyls, it must be said that some are more detailed than others. Funko’s The Mummy vinyl figures are no exception and feature some of the most impressive detailing work, along with paint application. The Mummy (2017) POP vinyls actually go quite well with Funko’s line of classic Universal Monsters POPs from years past. With Ahmanet, she comes complete with her dress, jewelry, and painted turquoise nails on both her hands and feet. She also has a small nose ring, along with detailed writing down her chest. Interestingly, Sofia Boutella has been known to wear a nose ring in real life.
Funko’s POP! vinyl figure of Ahmanet brings to mind Elizabeth Taylor as Cleopatra and that performance and iconic look was a strong inspiration for Elizabeth Georgiou when designing Ahmanet’s make-up and appearance.
The Mummy POP vinyl figures should not be missed and while Ahmanet may not seem as must worthy as The Mummy or even Nick Morton (it’s the first Tom Cruise POP ever made), she’s very much an essential part of your The Mummy 2017 or Universal Monsters collection.
The Mummy POP vinyl figures should be arriving in stores now, with a retail price of $10.99 They are currently up for pre-order on Entertainment Earth, whom we are affiliates with. Also be sure to check out our interview with Funko CEO Brian Mariotti for more details on upcoming The Mummy and Universal Monsters products.
As always, stay tuned to Universal Monsters Universe for the latest on The Mummy.
