Universal releases new tv spot for “The Mummy”, headlined by Tom Cruise and Sofia Boutella.
Universal released a new tv spot for The Mummy this week, which you could view below:
If the latest tv spot for The Mummy reminds you of Cruise’s 2014 film, Edge of Tomorrow, it should not be of any surprise as both films share one of the same screenwriters – Chris McQuarrie. However, the difference between Edge of Tomorrow and The Mummy is Cruise’s Nick Morton wakes up right where he was when he died, as opposed to starting the day all over again.
The time motiff as a ticking clock is a nice, new touch to The Mummy marketing campaign, emphasizing the “you can’t run, you can’t escape” feeling we get as we see Nick Morton try to evade Sofia Boutella’s Ahmanet.
As always, stay tuned to Universal Monsters Universe for the latest on The Mummy.
Tom Cruise headlines a spectacular, all-new cinematic version of the legend that has fascinated cultures all over the world since the dawn of civilization: The Mummy.
Thought safely entombed in a tomb deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient princess (Sofia Boutella of Kingsman: The Secret Service and Star Trek Beyond) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.
From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London,The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.
The Mummy is directed by Alex Kurtzman, from a script by Jon Spaihts, Dylan Kussman, and Christopher McQuarrie. The film stars Tom Cruise, Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, Marwan Kenzari, Courtney B. Vance, Russell Crowe and Sofia Boutella. The film opens June 9, 2017.
