Universal releases new ESPN spot for “The Mummy.”

With nearly two months left until The Mummy is awakened in theaters, Universal has released yet another tv spot for the upcoming film starring Tom Cruise and Sofia Boutella. The latest ESPN themed spot for Alex Kurtzman’s upcoming Universal Monsters film will play during the NBA Playoffs, but fans can view the ESPN spot below:

While the ESPN spot for The Mummy doesn’t reveal anything new, it does play cleverly as an “in universe” clip that features several players learning that “there’s been a major incident in London.” The ESPN spot does however confirm that The Mummy will release in theaters, REAL D 3D, and IMAX 3D.

It’s an exciting time for fans of The Mummy and the Universal Monsters as they’re set to return to theaters in a major way. It was just recently announced that director Bill Condon (Beauty and the BeastGods and Monsters) is in talks to helm the Bride of Frankenstein, which appears to be the follow up picture to The Mummy.

What are your thoughts on the latest tv spot for The Mummy? Have you been watching all the spots that have been released? Or are you waiting to watch the picture with surprised kept intact on June 9th? Let us know in the comments below.

As always, stay tuned to Universal Monsters Universe for the latest on The Mummy.

Tom Cruise headlines a spectacular, all-new cinematic version of the legend that has fascinated cultures all over the world since the dawn of civilization: The Mummy.

Thought safely entombed in a tomb deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient princess (Sofia Boutella of Kingsman: The Secret Service and Star Trek Beyond) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.

From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London,The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.

The Mummy is directed by Alex Kurtzman, from a script by Jon Spaihts, Dylan Kussman, and Christopher McQuarrie. The film stars Tom Cruise, Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, Marwan Kenzari, Courtney B. Vance, Russell Crowe and Sofia Boutella. The film opens June 9, 2017.

  1. LOVE IT! I just saw the spot before I read the article here! I’m pumped that now this movie has the proper confirmation for 3D in “regular theaters! What a clever ad as well! Here’s hoping that Universal can have Jurassic World level domination with this movie, no matter how unlikely that seems! I want my Mummy to Cruise to at least a 100 million domestic opening weekend 🙂
