Universal schedules the London premiere for “The Mummy.”
With just under two months left until The Mummy is awakened in theaters this June, the worldwide promo tour is about to begin for the Alex Kurtzman directed film. A week ago we brought word that select cast members would be heading to Sydney, Australia for the May 22nd premiere of The Mummy and now today we have word on yet another location. Universal has confirmed that The Mummy will receive a red carpet premiere in London, following the Taiwan premiere on May 25th. The London premiere will be held at the Odeon Cinema in Leicaster Square in England on Thursday, June 1st. Tom Cruise, Sofia Boutella, Annabelle Wallis, and director Alex Kurtzman are expected to attend the June 1st premiere after The Mummy premieres in Sydney and Taiwan.
The London premiere for The Mummy is somewhat of a homecoming as the majority of principal photography took place in London. Filming on Alex Kurtzman’s first installment in the Universal Monsters Universe films took place on location throughout England and at Shepperton Studios.
As of right now, additional cast members such as Jake Johnson, Marwan Kenzari, Courtney B. Vance, and Russell Crowe have not been confirmed, however, Mr. Crowe will appear at the May 22nd premiere in Sydney.
We now know that Syndney, Australia is the first international stop for the cast and crew of The Mummy, with Taiwan following. During press day last week, director Alex Kurtzman confirmed a Mexico premiere for his Universal Monsters film. Additional premieres will be held in the United States.
As always, stay tuned to Universal Monsters Universe for the latest on The Mummy.
Tom Cruise headlines a spectacular, all-new cinematic version of the legend that has fascinated cultures all over the world since the dawn of civilization: The Mummy.
Thought safely entombed in a tomb deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient princess (Sofia Boutella of Kingsman: The Secret Service and Star Trek Beyond) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.
From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.
The Mummy is directed by Alex Kurtzman, from a script by Jon Spaihts, Dylan Kussman, and Christopher McQuarrie. The film stars Tom Cruise, Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, Marwan Kenzari, Courtney B. Vance, Russell Crowe and Sofia Boutella. The film opens June 9, 2017.
