Sofia Boutella talks everything Ahmanet and The Mummy!
How will audiences see Ahmanet? Will they see her as pure evil? Will they sympathize with her and understand why she became the way she did? We won’t know the answer until June 9th but Sofia Boutella shared her thoughts on Ahmanet in a new interview. “It was very important to find the psychology of the character and understand why she did what she did because she had to and have people just feel for her.” We’ll let you all take it as you wish as to what that might mean for the movie.
Sofia had nothing but admiration for Tom Cruise and Russell Crowe as she worked with them on the set of the film. What should the audience expect from the new film? “I think the audience should expect to be transported, to travel, not only in space but in time and they can expect to be entertained and be amused and have a laugh while being maybe, hopefully, excruciatingly terrified!” As if we didn’t have enough to convince us this movie is going to be a hit, Sofia has given it a rousing endorsement! Don’t forget to watch interviews with her co-stars Courtney B. Vance and Annabelle Wallis. For the full interview, click the video below.

Tom Cruise headlines a spectacular, all-new cinematic version of the legend that has fascinated cultures all over the world since the dawn of civilization: The Mummy.
Thought safely entombed in a tomb deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient princess (Sofia Boutella of Kingsman: The Secret Service and Star Trek Beyond) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.
From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.
The Mummy is directed by Alex Kurtzman, from a script by Jon Spaihts, Dylan Kussman, and Christopher McQuarrie. The film stars Tom Cruise, Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, Marwan Kenzari, Courtney B. Vance, Russell Crowe and Sofia Boutella. The film opens June 9, 2017.
