Universal Pictures “The Mummy” opens in theaters June 9th!

The time is finally upon us, The Mummy is here and she is real! While we got to see an advance screening of Alex Kurtzman’s first film in the “Dark Universe” on Tuesday at the NYC premiere (Check out our advance review!), the film opens everywhere starting tonight at 7 pm. Ahead of the film opening in wide release, and a weekend sure to be adventure filled, check out the latest sneak preview from Universal Pictures.

It’s exciting to hear The Mummy headlining star Tom Cruise speak of the Universal Monsters in as reverent a way as he does. The classic monsters were so important to me growing up as a kid, and it was exciting when Universal decided to revisit The Mummy in 1999 and The Wolfman in 2010. Out of all the monsters that exist, the brand of Universal Monsters are classic for a reason and are right up there with our superheroes like Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman. If you’re a Universal Monsters fan, The Mummy is definitely the movie for you as it not only re-energizes the Universe in a new and exciting way, but it also exists as a love letter to the original horror classics on so many levels. Be it from the actors committed to their roles, to the production and make-up design, and even right to the Brian Tyler score – The Mummy is an exciting, unrelenting thrill ride. Joe, of UMU, and I loved the movie very much and we hope all of you do, as well.

As always, stay tuned to Universal Monsters Universe for the latest on The Mummy and the Universal Monsters Universe of films.

Tom Cruise headlines a spectacular, all-new cinematic version of the legend that has fascinated cultures all over the world since the dawn of civilization: The Mummy.

Thought safely entombed in a tomb deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient princess (Sofia Boutella of Kingsman: The Secret Service and Star Trek Beyond) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.

From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.

The Mummy is directed by Alex Kurtzman, from a script by Jon Spaihts, Dylan Kussman, and Christopher McQuarrie. The film stars Tom Cruise, Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, Marwan Kenzari, Courtney B. Vance, Russell Crowe and Sofia Boutella. The film opens June 9, 2017.
